“How can I keep my ideals and still teach?

Is it even possible?”

Call for research participants

Have you had a rough time in teaching? Are you thinking about leaving the profession or have you already quit? Have you felt isolated, conflicted, oppressed? Have you wondered about how you can stay true to your ethics, ideals and beliefs, and still teach? Have you wondered whether there is a way to remain in your career, survive and even thrive? Do you feel disillusioned, despairing, unsure? Do you wonder if the problem is you or the system? Whether you are the only person feeling like this? Or have you struggled and found a way forward that you could share?

If this resonates with you, would you consider participating in a research project to explore these issues? The project aims to find out more about the difficult and painful experiences teachers have had in their teacher training/ education and subsequent early teaching career, and to explore ideas for ways to help more teachers stay within the system, survive and thrive. It will involve attending a two-day weekend workshop in Birmingham, UK, with other people who have had similar experiences.
