Press release: ‘One game, one community’

Preparations are underway for Kick It Out’s ‘One Game, One Community’ weeks of action, one of the country’s largest community engagement and equality initiatives.

During the period, this year between Thursday 16 – Tuesday 28 October, Kick It Out works closely with professional clubs, community groups and grassroots organisations to co-ordinate a number of events aimed at highlighting and celebrating the diverse nature of football, sport and community life in general. As always, the initiative welcomes any involvement from schools and wants to hear your ideas on how to contribute.

The weeks also celebrate the contribution made to football by black, Asian and other ethnic minority players, coaches and fans, whilst continuing to promote ideas of inclusion and equality at all levels of the game.

All 92 professional clubs in England play a major role in promoting the weeks of action, and every single game played during the period will be designated as a One Game, One Community game, with each individual club choosing their own way to celebrate the cause.

There are a range of opportunities open to anyone wanting to get involved in the One Game, One Community weeks of action in their area. A large number of community groups and amateur football clubs use the opportunity to put on their own events, so visit our website to find out what’s happening in your area.

And if there doesn’t seem to be anything happening in your area, then you can organise something yourself. Whether it’s putting on an event with your local community group or having a themed-assembly at your school, there are a whole host of different ways to help spread the Kick It Out message.
